Roaring into the Finale: Rosland Unveils Iconic Pink Pig Livery

Back in 1971, Porsche entered its Porsche 917 car in Le Mans with, what was to become, an iconic world-recognised paint job.  This weekend, Rosland Gold Racing and Century Motorsport pay tribute to the enduring symbol of motor sport, as we unveil one of our cars adorned in its stunning new pink pig livery.

The original fanciful paintwork, designed by Anatole Lapine, and which resulted in this Le Mans Porsche 917 go down in Porsche history with names such as the "Pink Pig", "Big Berta" or even the "Truffle Hunter", is world recognised within motorsport. Back in ’71 it was Porsche designer Anatole Lapine who decided in favour of the pink body colour and had labelled each of the body parts according to the butcher-style cuts. The ‘cut lines’ were even coloured ‘blood red’.

It was even the fastest car during the pre-race qualification session, despite being totally untested! In that historic race the Pink Pig was actually running in 5th position when it had to retire towards the end of the race due to an unfortunate accident. But this iconic car lived on for many…

A few more Pink Pig paint jobs and wraps have been seen, but if we move on to 2018, a Porsche 911RSR entered the 24H Le Mans as the ‘Pink Pig’ and duly won its class! This 911RSR, wrapped in Pink Pig livery and with pink headlights instead of white ones, came home to take the win in LMGTE Pro Class.
